OUR STORY
Travis Pointe has always been filled with music, laughter and love, so our most recent incarnation as an event venue is a natural extension of our storied history of gracious hospitality.
Our story begins with A Tale of Two Travis’s -- Travis Stewart, and Travis Stewart. They were mother and daughter, each other’s closest neighbor, and known to all as Travis Senior and Travis Junior.
Back in 1979, when the Stewarts found their gorgeous Lake Norman retreat with acres of spacious lawns and an endless view of open water, the area wasn’t developed yet, and private roads didn’t have or need names. In the following decade, when Lake Norman became the place to live, rather than just a vacation destination, things became a little more complicated.
Suddenly, the road needed a name. This really didn’t seem necessary to Travis Senior after all this time, but the folks at Iredell County were insistent that she make a decision. Her exasperated response to the County’s final call set the die. When they asked her one last time what she would call it, Travis Senior said, “There’s nothing here but two Travis’s and a Pointe.” The lady from Iredell County fired back, “Fine. That’s what we’ll call it!” and hung up.
Travis Pointe was born
Travis Senior genuinely loved to share Travis Pointe with family and friends, and there was never an event or milestone too small to merit a celebration. Her joyous spirit and flair for entertaining, combined with the natural beauty of the lush grounds and open water views, always guaranteed a memorable occasion at Travis Pointe.
It is this legacy of joyful celebration that we honor in sharing Travis Pointe with you, your family and friends.
Join us and experience your event, your way, surrounded by the unique beauty of Travis Pointe. You are sure to discover, as we did, that not all waterfront is created equal.
Sincerely,
Travis Stewart and Bob Nulton
